LTE Direct is a potential new standard based on p2p technology. Idea is to let two cellular devices communicate over the air without relying on a fixed network infrastructure. Two main applications possible: public safety communications in areas, where mobile networks are down or unawailable, and a "discovery mode" that provides information location based. If the idea continued to advance, the system could then become part of LTE Release 12 or Release 13, which will probably come out in 2014 or 2015 /pcworld.com
