LTE surpass 3G numbers in 2013 in South Korea
The number of South Korea smartphone users on LTE could hit 42 million next year, making up 73 percent of all mobile phone users.
This represents a significant jump from the latest estimates of around 8.25 million LTE subscribers as of Jul. 2012, the consulting firm said, adding that it forecasts the number to hit 16 million by year-end.

In high density areas LTE sites must be deployed extremely closely together so in that environment inter-cell interference will be a big issue to tackle. KT has deployed the LTE virtualization network technology to control the inter-cell interference in high density areas. South Korea hit the 8.4 million LTE connections
SK Telecom, largest mobile carrier, reported its 4 millionth connection last week. It was just 44 days between 3 and 4 million marks (+1 mil. to June 2012). / koreatimes.co.kr
KT Corp. said it provided LTE to 1.4 million subs (+0,4 mil. to May-June 2012).
LG Uplus Corp. expect to touch 3 million mark in few days (+1 mil. to May-June 2012).
Estimations: >10 mil LTE connections during 3q2012 and ~16 million by the 2012 year end.

All operators plan to support VoLTE soon.
My estimations of current number of LTE connections worldwide - about 21.3 million.
